Petite Syrah, Petite Sirah

Petite Syrah is an important grape grown in the warmer climates of California and South America. The name Petite Syrah has been applied to the Durif grape, true Rhone Syrah, Peloursin, and a Durif and Peloursin crossing. This grape can produce dark, well-balanced, sturdily tannic red wines and is the backbone for many successful blends. The wines are relatively acidic and show herbal and peppery notes on the nose.
