Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir at its best produces high quality, expressive wines with an alluring nose of leather, cherry, and smoke. Famed as the great red grape of Burgundy, France, Pinot Noir has been transplanted to almost every region of the world. It is not successful in warm weather climates where its subtle flavors and aromas turn jammy and overbearingly fruity. It is a very difficult grape to grow as it is low-yielding and prone to rot. The challenges this grape poses to the vintner make it almost impossible for the consumer to find good Pinot Noir at low costs.
